Shrew’s Nest (aka Musarañas), a 2014 Spanish-language horror-thriller from Juanfer Andrés and Esteban Roel, is getting an English-language remake from Paramount.
The original film, which is set in 1950s Spain, follows an agoraphobic woman who raises her younger sister in an apartment locked away from the world. But when a reckless neighbour falls down the stairs and drags himself to their door, someone enters their nest… and it doesn’t look like he’s leaving.
Rachel Chavkin, who won the Tony Award for Best Direction of a Musical in 2019 for Hadestown, has been tapped to direct the remake, from a script adapted by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski (Super Dark Times). The film will mark Chavkin’s feature film directorial debut.
