It’s been 40 years since Ruggero Deodato’s Cannibal Holocaust shocked the world, and to celebrate the anniversary, Deodato has teamed up with Fantastico Studio to deliver terror in a whole new medium—the video game.
Titled Cannibal, the game is being billed as “the fourth, highly awaited chapter of Deodato’s cannibals cycle” and will be available for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and mobile. Made with the Unity engine, Cannibal was directed and scripted by Deodato and features the original drawings of Solo Macello.
So, what’s it about? In this interactive graphic horror adventure, players will take control of different characters to gradually reveal what led them to a desperate expedition through the jungles of Borneo… and how the story will end.
1980’s Cannibal Holocaust was the second film in Deodato’s “Cannibal Trilogy,” which began with Jungle Holocaust in 1977. The trilogy concluded with Cut and Run in 1985.
Cannibal is set to release in November 2020. Check out the reveal trailer below.
