Deon Taylor (The Intruder) is directing an English-language remake of the Vietnamese horror film The Housemaid for CJ Entertainment.
The remake will be called Grave Hill. Oscar-winning screenwriter Geoffrey Fletcher (Precious) wrote the adapted screenplay with Derek Nguyen, who wrote and directed the original film.
Released in 2016, The Housemaid followed an orphaned Vietnamese girl who is hired to be a housemaid at a haunted rubber plantation in 1953 French Indochina. There, she unexpectedly falls in love with the French landowner, awakening the vengeful ghost of his dead wife—who is out for blood.
