Actor Patrick Wilson is set to make his directorial debut—helming the fifth Insidious film!
Wilson, of course, starred as Josh Lambert in the first two films in the franchise. He’ll reprise that role for Insidious: Chapter 5, which will pick up the Lamberts’ story 10 years later as son Dalton (Ty Simpkins) heads to college.
“I’m honoured and thrilled to be at the helm of the next Insidious instalment, which will provide an amazing chance to unpack everything the Lamberts went through a decade ago, as well as deal with the consequences of their choices,” Wilson said during Blumhouse’s virtual BlumFest celebration. “Directing the movie is both professionally and personally a full-circle moment for me, and I am extremely grateful to be entrusted in continuing to tell this frightening and haunting story. Into The Further we go…”
Scott Teems (Halloween Kills) wrote the script for Insidious: Chapter 5, from a story by Leigh Whannell. The film is expected to release sometime in 2022.
