Banjong Pisanthanakun—director of the terrifying 2004 Thai horror film Shutter—is back with The Medium, a supernatural horror film that is currently in post-production.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Medium is based on an original story developed by Na Hong-jin (The Wailing), who will also produce under his production banner Northern Cross. The film is described as a horrifying tale of a shaman’s inheritance in the Isan region of Thailand. But the goddess that appears to have taken possession of a family member turns out not be as benevolent as it first appears…
South Korea’s Showbox is co-producing The Medium with the Thai studio GDH 599. International sales, handled by Seoul-based sales outfit Finecut, will launch at the European Film Market.
