Amazon Studios is developing an English-language remake of Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala’s 2014 horror movie Goodnight Mommy—and the film has found its twins.
Cameron and Nicholas Crovetti (Big Little Lies) will play the twin boys at the centre of the twisted plot. Naomi Watts was previously announced as the star of the film, playing the twins’ mother. Crystal Lucas-Perry (Mimesis Nosferatu) and Peter Hermann (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit) have also been cast in supporting roles.
Matt Sobel (Take Me to the River) is directing the remake, which was written by Kyle Warren. The original film follows nine-year-old Elias and his twin brother Lukas who arrive at their mother’s house only to find her face covered in bandages, which she explains is the result of recent cosmetic surgery. But when the woman begins to act uncharacteristically, the boys start to suspect that she is not really their mother.
