Odessa A’Zion (Let’s Scare Julie, Grand Army) has landed the leading role in Spyglass Media’s upcoming Hellraiser movie, which will be directed by David Bruckner (The Night House, The Ritual).
Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski (The Night House, Super Dark Times) wrote the script for the film, which has been acquired by Hulu. And if you’re thinking, “Wait, I thought this was going to be a TV series?” then you’re half right: HBO Max is currently working on a separate Hellraiser TV series, written by Michael Dougherty (Trick ‘r Treat) and Mark Verheiden (Swamp Thing), with David Gordon Green (Halloween) set to direct several initial episodes as well as the pilot. So, lots of things to look forward to if you’re a Hellraiser fan!
The original Hellraiser, of course, was released in 1987 and centred around a puzzle box that summons the Cenobites—extra-dimensional beings who are demons to some, angels to others. Clive Barker wrote and directed the film, which was an adaptation of his own novella, The Hellbound Heart.
