Filming on Evil Dead Rise is halfway complete—and Deadline has revealed some new plot details, along with some additional casting news.
According to Deadline, “In the fifth Evil Dead film, a road-weary Beth pays an overdue visit to her older sister Ellie, who is raising three kids on her own in a cramped L.A. apartment. The sisters’ reunion is cut short by the discovery of a mysterious book deep in the bowels of Ellie’s building, giving rise to flesh-possessing demons, and thrusting Beth into a primal battle for survival as she is faced with the most nightmarish version of motherhood imaginable.”
As for the new cast member? Mia Challis will play Jessica, an 18-year-old girl obsessed with fashion and Instagram who loves to be the centre of attention, although she is smarter than she lets on. The film’s cast also includes Gabrielle Echols, Morgan Davies, Nell Fisher, Alyssa Sutherland, and Lily Sullivan.
Lee Cronin (The Hole in the Ground) is directing Evil Dead Rise. Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell, and Robert Tapert are producing.
