Described as “equal parts survival epic, psychological horror story, and coming-of-age drama,” Showtime’s new series Yellowjackets dropped an official trailer this week. Fair warning: if you have a fear of flying, you may want to look away.
The saga of a team of wildly talented high school girls soccer players who become the (un)lucky survivors of a plane crash deep in the remote northern wilderness, Yellowjackets chronicles their descent from a complicated but thriving team to savage clans. At the same time, the series tracks the lives they’ve attempted to piece back together nearly 25 years later, proving that the past is never really past and what began out in the wilderness is far from over.
Melanie Lynskey (Castle Rock), Tawny Cypress (Heroes), Christina Ricci (The Addams Family), and Juliette Lewis (From Dusk Till Dawn) star in Yellowjackets, which was created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, who also serve as executive producers and showrunners alongside Jonathan Lisco. Karyn Kusama (Jennifer’s Body) directed the pilot episode, debuting on November 14th.
