Fede Alvarez (Evil Dead, Don’t Breathe) is writing and directing a new Alien movie for 20th Century Studios!

Described as an “original stand-alone Aliens feature” by The Hollywood Reporter, which broke the news, the film is “intended to be made for Hulu as part of 20th Century’s ambitions to make more than 10 movies a year for the Disney-owned streaming service.” Ridley Scott, who directed the 1979 classic, is producing via his Scott Free banner.

Steve Asbell, 20th Century division president, noted that Alvarez’s pitch was “just a really good story with a bunch of characters you haven’t seen before.” The filmmaker reportedly made the pitch years ago to Ridley Scott, who couldn’t get it out of his head and finally called Alvarez asking if he was still up for it late last year. The details of that pitch have not yet been released.
