Share & Splatter More Blood Around

Becoming one of the most unexpected horror hits of 2023, Evil Dead Rise surprised everyone.

Following its enormous success, new life was injected into the Evil Dead brand, and earlier this year we were told to expect “at least” two more theatrical films.

For some time now, we’ve known that Sébastien Vaniček, the filmmaker behind 2023’s critical darling Infested, would helm an Evil Dead spin-off movie.

Now, we know that it will be called Evil Dead Burn, and will release theatrically sometime in 2026.

This news comes one year after Evil Dead creator Sam Raimi announced his intention to use the rejuvenated Evil Dead brand as a springboard for up-and-coming genre filmmakers.

To that end, Vaniček crafted the script for Evil Dead Burn with co-writer Florent Bernard. The filmmaker then approached producers Sam Raimi and Robert Tappert with the idea, and quickly landed the spin-off gig.

Upon his appointment to helm an Evil Dead spin-off, Vaniček said the following of the film he hopes to make:
“I told the studio that I wanted to make a nasty film, a film that hurts, from which you come away tested. I’m going to put all the horror I have inside, it will be cathartic, and if I haven’t ruined my career and I can continue to make films behind it, I will move on to something other than horror!”

Production is expected to begin very soon on Evil Dead Burn, although plot details remain under wraps.

Francis Galluppi, director of The Last Stop in Yuma County, has also been selected to craft a seventh Evil Dead entry. However, details of this project remain sparse.

We’ll let you know any further Evil Dead updates as soon as we have them.
