From Mary Shelley to Shirley Jackson, the mark female horror authors have left on the genre is undeniable. And Quirk Books plans to celebrate these women with a new release—Monster, She Wrote: The Women Who Pioneered Horror and Speculative Fiction.
Authored by Lisa Kröger and Melanie R. Anderson, horror academics and hosts of the Know Fear Cast, Monster, She Wrote will look at over 100 women, both famous and forgotten, who helped invent and reinvent this genre we all know and love. A short biography on each woman will explore her contribution to the craft and her influence on her male peers, as well as shining a light on the expectations she defied.
The book will also contain bibliographies and suggestions for further reading, making it a handy resource for both research and figuring out what to read next.
Monster, She Wrote will hit bookshelves on September 17th, 2019.
