Horror fans were left disappointed recently when Ari Aster (Hereditary, Midsommar) announced he was working on scripts for melodramas, Westerns, gangster movies—just about every genre you can imagine, except horror. But during a Reddit AMA this week, the visionary director clarified that he isn’t done with the genre yet.
“It might take me a few movies before I wind back around to it, but I love horror and I’m sure I’ll be back,” he wrote.
Aster also teased what we can expect to see from him in the near future.
“Next one will either be a zonky nightmare comedy or a big, sickly domestic melodrama,” he said.
