After his dramatic rescue by helicopter, we knew we’d be seeing more from The Walking Dead’s Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) very soon, just not in the TV show. He’ll be returning for a tie-in movie—and an announcement at San Diego Comic-Con gave us some surprising news about it.
The film, which is as-yet untitled, will not be a made-for-TV movie airing on AMC as originally advertised. In fact, it will be released “only in theatres.”
The plan seems to be to bring Rick back for at least three feature films, the first of which will explore what he’s been up to ever since he flew out of the series. No word yet on whether Pollyanna McIntosh’s Jadis will return with him, though the actress told us earlier this year that she’s “very much up for it.”
