After learning that Halloween Kills will arrive in theatres on October 16th, 2020, we weren’t too surprised to hear that the untitled Saw reboot has been moved out of its Halloween season release slot. In fact, it’s been bumped up a full five months and will now be released on May 15th, 2020.
This will be the first film in the Saw franchise to be released outside of October. But the film seems set on defying expectations, so that might not be a bad thing.
Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II-IV) is directing this instalment, which is based on an idea by Chris Rock. Rock also stars in the film, playing a police detective investigating a series of gruesome crimes. The cast includes Samuel L. Jackson, Max Minghella, and Marisol Nicols, though there’s still no word on whether Tobin Bell is involved.
